When I had a job designing custom inflatables I was too apathetic to save copies of my work for my portfolio. With distance, I realize I maybe should have. I cobbled together some pages for my porfolio featuring some of the stuff I have worked on. I found printed hardcopies of some of the designs and scanned them in. I googled to find pictures of the rest. Some of the "designs" were really just an exercise in converting somebody elses design into an inflatable medium. Some of them I actually got to create something in collaboration with an illustrator. I'll save the practical military decoys and aerostats I worked on for another post.

Hopefully I've improved significantly since then. This pop up is slightly more abstract than the ones I made back in the day (they consisted of lots of cheesy hearts).

Initially it was frustrating trying to figure out how to get it to work, but after several iterations I got something I liked. I think there may be more pop ups in my future. Any requests?

Small sculpture with some inspiration taken from bones. The color choice was partly avoiding using the same color as everyone else, and partly trying to avoid my natural inclination to make everything orange.

Sure it was just animal control. And yes, we do need to rake up are yard. I think he killed a deer that showed up in the backyard. Not sure why so many cops were needed though.

    Packaging
Ralph (my dog) attacked a packaging assignment I created that was roughly based on his likeness. I wish I had gotten decent pictures before he tried to rip the head off of it.

I designed posters/handouts for Raven's booth at the Women in Science event on March 9th. The event was held at University Center North in Sioux Falls. The annual event is geared towards area 8th grade girls, to make them aware of the opportunities for careers in math and science fields. Women currently represent less than 25% of the workforce in math and science professions. Women in Science is organized by area schools and women in the profession, with the goal of increasing the representation in those fields.

And yes, the copy on the pink poster isn't consistent with the other posters, but I'm choosing not to elaborate on that.

    Teapot
Another Maya modeling and texturing project. I wish the original files would have survived my last laptop fiasco. I would have re-rendered the lighting, etc. and cropped it a little differently. However, it was a fun project.
